ArchiLogs

Graphisoft Finland is a lisenced trademark that Graphisoft has granted for Micro Aided Design Ltd (M.A.D.)

ArchiLogs is a solution for your log house design, marketing and manufacturing needs. It’s realized as an add-on application to ArchiCAD and completing it with special log building features. ArchiLogs produces layouts, wall drawings, calculations and, where necessary, even CNC-code, while keeping all standard ArchiCAD functions available.

All documents from one single file

ArchiLogs gives you the benefit of an array of applications paired with the smooth workflow of an integrated solution. Together with ArchiCAD ArchiLogs produces complete plans, sections and elevations, construction details, object schedules, renderings, animations and virtual reality scenes from one central database. The project is a functional model that updates throughout all views. This means a significant reduction of the time used on documentation.

All this means that there is no need copying the information in between softwares, which reduces the risk of mistakes and speeds up the process. Maintenance and training concentrates on one entity making ArchiLogs cost efficient and easy to keep up to date. However, if you ever need to exchange data between applications, ArchiLogs' full IFC compatibility lets you do the exchange without any loss of information.

Log wall elevations directly from the model

The log wall elevations are produced directly from the modeled walls. Customizable toolsets let you place specific machining like drillings or grooves quickly and accurately directly on them. The log wall elevations allow you to collect all the information needed in manufacturing, as well as for assembly on site, to a set of easily readable documents. Therefore also companies without automated CNC-machinery will benefit from the advantages of ArchiLogs.

ArchiLogs follows the dimensioning settings of ArchiCAD and the measures are available in meters, millimeters or inches.

Illustrative log home design

designerkollaasi_pieni.jpg

Every ArchiCAD has a built in Sketch Log-option, but it lacks many specific log construction tools and objects. Anyone with a ArchiCAD can sketch and draw plans of a log house but when it comes to more detailed drawings, ArchiLogs is the perfect solution. All desired details are easy to incorporate in the model with the special ArchiLogs Library, which is part of the add-on. Naturally, the library can be expanded to include your own details and ArchiCAD objects.

Different types of drawings can be created and their appearance adjusted according to your established practice. The model can be viewed and examined three-dimensionally at any given moment in the design process. This real-time feedback makes the evaluation of design alternatives quick and uncomplicated, reducing the risk of errors and surprises on site.

Representative marketing

Sales pictures are produced directly from the ArchiCAD model; images can be saved from the very same views used in the design process. Object libraries offer many usable components to enrich and enliven your perspective images or to reproduce the site of the house in a realistic way.

During sales meetings the project can be presented in three dimensional view to the customers to give them an all-round impression of their house. Modifications of the design can be done directly in the model and the effect is visible on-screen at once. Communication with your client becomes uncomplicated and real-time.

For more advanced presentations and professional marketing material ArchiLogs uses ArchiCAD's built-in rendering and animation properties. Animated fly-throughs and tracking shots both through and around the building are an excellent way to communicate your design ideas!

Accurate cuantity calculation

ArchiLogs accessory list is a further developed configuration of ArchiCAD's own quantity calculation. Sometimes special features are required in addition to existing bill of materials. Everything in your ArchiCAD model can be listed from the amount of timber needed down the every single bolt. Through further customization the tables and bills created can even be directly incorporated into your logistical management.

Manufacturer specific customization

Every log house manufacturer has their own design solutions and patented details that are not included in the basic installation of ArchiLogs add-on. There are many ways to customize the application.

Custom tools can be added for special machining and the precision of planning as well as the visual appearance of the model can be improved by defining the actual timber profiles and dimension used in your company. All standard methods of customizing your work environment in ArchiCAD are of course available too.

To enable CNC code printing, the commands used in the CNC machinery should be entered into the program. The type of the code varies between machines and only the used codes are entered. Check the most common CNC list definition here: ArchiLogs CNC basic list.

To speed up the modeling some special details might be worth coding as custom objects and parametric functions. For example the program includes only basic timber-work types and the window objects in the elemental library might be difficult to modify to correspond the real model. For these kind of needs specific customization comes handy.

Together with ArchiCAD ArchiLogs forms an integrated solution both intuitive and logical and easy to learn. ArchiLogs manuals are delivered with every license in the respective language. Inside you will find step by step instructions how to create the log house model you want.
